Is valid for children ages 6 to 14. Accompanied children under age 6: Two children are free with each accompanying adult.

Is offered when at least one parent and one child ride together. The children or the parents may not ride on their own.

Applyies when the fare for at least 10 participants is paid by a single passenger.

When the fare for at least 10 participants is paid by a single passenger, the group rate is available for:

• children
• schoolchildren
• students
• youths (age until 18,99)

The group must be supervised by a responsible accompanying adult. One chaperone for every 10 participants receives a discounted price.

Discounted seniors’ prices for rides up and down the mountain are available to holders of:

• an SVV "Edelweiss Ticket"

• People with disabilities and/or restricted mobility who can prove a degree of disability or a loss of earning capacity of at least 50% and an accompanying person (if applicable) will receive a reduced fare ticket (group rate).
• The accompanying person will only be transported at a reduced price (group rate), if he moves the person with disabilities in a wheelchair or his/her disabled-person-pass points to the need of an accompanying person.

You can buy your tickets via the cash desks of the FestungBahn funicular located in Festungsgasse 4.

Moreover you can purchase your tickets at the "Sperrbogen". You will come to the “Sperrbogen” gate before the main entrance gates of Hohensalzburg Fortress. You can reach this on foot. At the Sperrbogen, you will be able to purchase tickets for your visit to Hohensalzburg Fortress as well as your ride back down on the FestungsBahn funicular.

Yes, prams can be transported free of charge on the FestungsBahn funicular on a space-available basis. However, please be aware that there are numerous stairs and inclines at the fortress which restrict accessibility:

• Unrestricted access: panorama terrace as well as the bastion near the mountain station
• Accessible by means of an elevator in the belltower: castle courtyard, exhibition in the Arsenal, tavern, Kuenburg Bastion and Marionette Museum
• Not accessible: indoor areas of the fortress

Alternatively, you will need to carry it in a suitable pet-friendly container. Dogs are not permitted in indoor areas of Fortress Hohensalzburg – with the exception of assistance dogs.

No, bicycle transportation is not possible.

After the fortress has closed (October – April: after 5.00 pm, May – September: after 8.00 pm), it is possible to buy tickets for the funicular only. Otherwise, you will have to purchase a so-called FestungsCard.

Yes, with the Salzburg Card you enjoy free admission to Fortress Hohensalzburg as well as free rides on the FestungsBahn funicular. However, please note that free fortress admission and free funicular rides (up and down the mountain) are only redeemable on a one-time basis.
