SCHAFBERG RUN 2025

Mountain runners take on the challenge of “man against steam train” in the 23rd Schafberg Run. With inclines of as much as 26% and a 1240 m elevation gain, this race against the SchafbergBahn cog railway is one of the toughest mountain runs in Austria. The views of the magnificent Alpine panorama and the five lakes of the Salzkammergut motivate extreme athletes as much as the unique physical challenge itself. Even over 20 years ago, the Schafberg Run was already one of the premier mountain runs on the race calendar. This time, yet again, it will push runners to their absolute limits. Only the “best of the best” will successfully rise to the challenge of the SchafbergBahn and perhaps even set a new course record.

After the run could not be held in 2020 and 2021 due to corona, it was held for the first time in summer 2021 as a trail run along the hiking trail. Due to the good response, a trail run will be held again in 2025.
