one historic vessel: paddle steamer "RMS Kaiser Franz Josef I."

It is practically impossible to imagine Lake Wolfgangsee without the “Kaiser”, as it is affectionately known by the locals, with its powerful paddle wheel. On its 135th birthday in 2008, it received a bit of a rejuvenation treatment. Its appearance was lovingly brought back into keeping with how it looked in 1908, with painstaking attention to every detail.

Beautiful wood paneling and elegant seating convey the nostalgic flair of imperial times.

  • Built: 1873
  • Capacity: 100 people, however the interior seating on the lower deck doesn’t have windows
  • Facilities: open-air deck with awning
